Rosa huset - the Pink house

In 2020, the little pink house at Mårtens torg on Prästgatan in Östersund burned down. The house was almost 200 years old.

In memory of the house, the artist Kape painted a mural — a tribute to the building that had stood there for so long, and a way of keeping its story alive on the very spot where it once stood.

KAPE is an underground artist and musician from Jämtland. KAPE's expression primarily takes shape through painting, where spray paint, acrylic and watercolor interact in a dynamic and personal visual language. The motifs move between the abstract and the figurative, from expressionistic depictions of inner visions, feelings and moods to more concrete interpretations of external reality. He has painted large murals since 1994. Between 1995-1996 he attended Frösö Painting School and learned from the artist Rolf Kjellberg.
